Installing from a CD
If you are installing software from a CD, please follow these steps:- Windows Instructions
- Close all open programs.
- Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
- If the program does not start automatically, follow these steps:
- Click the Start button, and then click My Computer.
- If the CD was purchased from a retail store then right-click on the drive that contains the H&R Block At Home CD, click Explore on the shortcut menu, and then double-click Setup.exe or TCAuto.exe.
- If the CD was received in the mail then right-click on the drive that contains the H&R Block At Home CD, click Explore on the shortcut menu, and then double-click TCAuto.exe.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Macintosh Instructions
- Close all open programs.
- Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
- If the window doesn't automatically open, double-click the CD icon on the desktop.
- From the window, drag the application to the computer drive icon.
Note: To ensure optimal performance, we suggest that clients install the program in the Applications folder, but it can be installed to any location.
Installing from a Download
If you are installing software from a download from the Web site, please follow these steps:- Windows Federal or State Program:
- Close all open applications.
- Double-click the downloaded file.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. It is recommended that the files be installed to the default location.
- Macintosh Federal Program:
- Close all open applications.
- Double-click the downloaded (.dmg) file.
- Drag H&R Block At Home to the Applications folder.
- Open the H&R Block At Home application from the Applications folder.
- Macintosh State Program:
- Navigate to the folder where the downloaded (.dmg) file was stored
- Double-click the .dmg file.
- Double-click the XX.bundle file, where XX is the 2-letter abbreviation for your state. For example: CA.bundle.
