If I've already e-filed my return, can I e-file Form 8379: Injured Spouse Allocation?
Form 8379 can be e-filed.
However, since you’ve already e-filed, you’ll have to mail the signed Form 8379 to the IRS Service Center for the area where you live. Allow 11 weeks for the return to process with the injured spouse allocation request.
Otherwise, if you file Form 8379 with a joint return on paper, it will take about 14 weeks to process.
If you file Form 8379 by itself after a joint return has already been processed, it takes about 8 weeks to process.
