If I was pregnant most of the year, can I claim my baby?
To claim a baby as a dependent, the baby must have been born alive during the tax year. If your child wasn't born until the following year, you can't claim the baby as a dependent, even though you were pregnant most of the tax year. If, however, your baby was born this year, you can claim the baby even though the baby wasn't alive most of the year.
