Can I deduct my time-share property tax?

It depends on how your property tax is assessed and billed. Some jurisdictions -- like California -- bill the timeshare owner directly. This is deductible.  

Others -- like Florida -- bill the timeshare association. The timeshare association then splits your share out as a separate item on your maintenance fee billings. This is also deductible.  

Your property taxes aren’t deductible if your association doesn’t do either of these:

  • Directly bill your property taxes
  • Separately state your property taxes on your maintenance fee billing
