IRS Notice CP2566

We still have not received your Form 1040

Many situations can lead to an IRS notice about an unfiled tax return. Perhaps your return hasn't been processed, and the IRS sent the notice in error. Maybe something prevented you from filing your return this year. Whatever the case, H&R Block will evaluate the issue and make sure the problem doesn't get worse.

What happened?

  1. The IRS never received a tax return from you for the year specified on your notice.
  2. The IRS sent you previous notices asking you to file a tax return because it had not received Form 1040, but never received response.
  3. The IRS sent a CP2566 notice to let you know it is filing a tax return for you. The notice also lists any taxes owed, including penalties and interest.

How can H&R Block help?

  • When the IRS calculates the taxes you owe, it does so at the highest tax rate and with no deductions. We'll make sure you're not paying any more than you're required to.
  • If penalties have been assessed, we will see whether you qualify to have them removed.
