Why you received IRS Notice CP74

  1. Your Earned Income Credit (EIC) was disallowed in a prior year.
  2. You requested recertification for the EIC.
  3. The IRS sends CP74 to inform you that you are recertified for the EIC and not required to submit Form 8862, Information to Claim Disallowed Earned Income Credit After Disallowance in the future. This notice also states that your client’s refund is being processed.
