H&R Block (NYSE: HRB), the world\u2019s largest consumer tax services provider, is offering drivers who partner with Uber, the global technology platform that connects riders with drivers, a discount on H&R Block tax preparation costs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the rise of the sharing economy, a new type of freelancer and entrepreneur is becoming more common, including those that drive on the Uber platform. But in many ways, this partnership actually brings to mind H&R Block\u2019s days as a start-up on Main Street 60 years ago, helping small businesses with their tax and accounting needs,\u201d said Kip Knight, H&R Block president of U.S. retail operations. \u201cWe have the expertise and technology to give relevant, accurate tax support to every type of self-employed or small business filer.\u201d<\/p>\n

H&R Block tax professionals at more than 10,000 locations nationwide can help the hundred of thousands of drivers in the U.S. claim all the tax benefits they are entitled to as self-employed taxpayers, while ensuring they meet all IRS requirements. Uber drivers will receive a $20 discount off of the fee to prepare their tax returns.<\/p>\n

\u201cUber has grown significantly this past year, which means there are more driver partners in more cities across the country. Our relationship with H&R Block will give partners, many of whom are new to Uber and new to self-employed business requirements, discounted access to the tax expertise they need,\u201d said David Richter, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives.<\/p>\n
