However, not all post office branches forward government checks.<\/p>\n<p>Notify the IRS of your address change. That way, you&#8217;ll receive refunds or mail regarding your past and current returns. You can do this by either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completing IRS Form 8822: Change of Address and mailing it to the address on the form.<\/li>\n<li>Writing a letter informing the IRS of an address change. Mail this letter to the IRS campus where you filed your last return. Include your:\n<ul>\n<li>Full name<\/li>\n<li>Old and new addresses<\/li>\n<li>Social Security number (SSN)<\/li>\n<li>Signature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you and your spouse filed as married filing jointly last year but you now live apart, you should each notify the IRS of your new address.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you moved since you filed your last return, you probably arranged to have your mail forwarded to your new address.
