Why you received IRS Letter 1022<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. You filed a tax return that is being audited.<\/li>\n
  2. The IRS was unable to verify the income and\/or deductions claimed on the return with the records you provided.<\/li>\n
  3. The IRS sent Letter 979<\/a> to inform you that your records are inadequate. The letter also required that you improve your record-keeping and provide the IRS with an explanation within six months as to how you have addressed the record-keeping requirements.<\/li>\n
  4. You did not provide the IRS with the required explanation.<\/li>\n
  5. The IRS sent Letter 1022 to inform you that the required explanation must be received within 15 days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
