You might need to install or reinstall your H&R Block state software after you buy it. If you bought an edition of H&R Block Tax Software<\/a> that includes a free state program (H&R Block Federal + State), you can perform an H&R Block state software install from within the H&R Block Tax Software program.<\/p>\n

To install your +State program:<\/p>\n

  1. Open the H&R Block Tax Software.<\/li>\n
  2. Click the\u00a0Start a Return<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
  3. Click on the\u00a0State<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
  4. Choose the state you want from the drop-down menu (you must be connected to the Internet).<\/li>\n
  5. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. Your state program will automatically begin downloading. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Need to Buy and Install H&R Block State Software?<\/h2>\n

    If you bought an edition of H&R Block Tax Software that doesn’t include a free state program, you can buy the state program within the software or online.<\/p>\n

    To buy and install H&R Block state software:<\/p>\n

    1. Open the H&R Block Tax Software.<\/li>\n
    2. Click the\u00a0Start a Return<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
    3. Click on the\u00a0State<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
    4. Choose the state you want and install from the drop-down menu (you must be connected to the Internet).<\/li>\n
    5. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    6. On the Enter State Purchase Information\u00a0<\/strong>screen, enter your billing information and email address.<\/li>\n
    7. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    8. Review the information on the Purchase State\u00a0<\/strong>screen to make sure everything is correct.<\/li>\n
    9. Click Purchase<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    10. Your state program will automatically begin downloading. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      To buy and install a state program from www.hrblock.com:<\/p>\n

      1. Save your return and close the H&R Block Tax Software.<\/li>\n
      2. Open your web browser and go to the\u00a0State Tax Software<\/strong> screen.<\/li>\n
      3. Choose your operating system (Windows or Mac).<\/li>\n
      4. Choose the state you want from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n
      5. Enter your billing information and email address.<\/li>\n
      6. Click Preview Order<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      7. Review the information on the P<\/strong>urchase Preview<\/strong> screen to make sure everything is correct.<\/li>\n
      8. Click Purchase<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        You’ll receive a confirmation email with your state program install file. Once you’ve received the email, download and save the state program to your computer. Open the state installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your installation.<\/p>\n

        If you installed your state program from within the H&R Block Tax Software and need to reinstall:<\/p>\n

        1. Open the H&R Block Tax Software.<\/li>\n

        3. Go to the Tools\u00a0<\/strong>menu and choose Reinstall State Program<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        4. Choose the state(s) you want to reinstall.<\/li>\n

          If you installed your state program from an install file:<\/p>\n

          2. Locate the state installer file on your computer or download it again from your confirmation email.<\/li>\n
