{"id":64223,"date":"2024-04-15T14:53:50","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T19:53:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hrblock.com\/tax-center\/?post_type=support&#038;p=64223"},"modified":"2025-05-27T14:09:37","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T19:09:37","slug":"print-mail-return","status":"publish","type":"support","link":"https:\/\/www.hrblock.com\/tax-center\/support\/software\/finalizing-software-return\/print-mail-return\/","title":{"rendered":"How to print and mail in your software return"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-choosing-print-and-mail-nbsp\">Choosing print and mail&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<br>To change to the filing method, take the following steps:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the\u202fFile\u202ftab at the top of the screen.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click\u202fNext\u202funtil you see this screen that reads, \u201cMeet your new best friend, free e-filing.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By clicking Next, you&#8217;ll automatically set the return for e-filing. If you want to print and mail, you should check the checkbox there.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-print-and-mail-instructions-nbsp\">Print and mail instructions&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose print and mail as your filing option, we\u2019ll include mailing instructions when you print the return. This will include where to mail the return and what to include with it.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>You\u2019ll need to attach copies of your W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, and any other tax forms that have federal withholdings. The forms that need to be attached will be printed with the mailing instructions.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br><strong><em>Federal:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u202fIRS mailing address\u202fto use depends on what 1040 form you file, where you live, and whether you\u2019re sending a payment with your tax return.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The IRS provides a\u202f<a href=\"http:\/\/www.irs.gov\/filing\/where-to-file-addresses-for-taxpayers-and-tax-professionals-filing-form-1040\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>\u202fthat will help you determine what address to use.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>State:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u202fstate\u202fmailing address\u202fwill be printed on the cover page of your state return. If you can\u2019t find this information, please contact your\u202fstate Department of Revenue\u202fto get the correct mailing address.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The mailing address for the state return is listed on the instruction page of the printed copy of the return.\u202fUse these instructions to view the mailing address:&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1. Find your account in the OLAT.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2. Choose the account and click\u202fView PDF.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3. Find the\u202fState Tax Return Filing Instructions\u202fpage.
