Where’s my refund – Maryland?

To check the status of your Maryland state refund online, go to https://interactive.marylandtaxes.gov/INDIV/refundstatus/home.aspx

In order to view status information, you will be prompted to enter:

Maryland refund

  • Your Social Security number
  • Refund amount

Then, click “Check Status” to view refund status.

Individual taxpayers can check the status of their refund by going to the Comptroller of Maryland website and clicking on Where’s My Refund? under “Frequently Visited Links” or by calling the automated refund inquiry hotline (toll-free) at 1-800-218-8160 or 410-260-7701.

Taxpayers are advised to wait at least 10 days from acceptance of their return before calling Taxpayer Services Division at toll-free 1-800-638-2937 or 410-260-7980.

Due to budget constraints and staff reductions, the state estimates processing of paper returns to take 30 days.  Returns that are e-filed take less time to process. Be aware that other factors can further delay a return.

What can cause a delay in my Maryland refund?

A number of things can cause a Maryland refund delay. Here are some of them:

  • If the department needs to verify information reported on your return or request additional information.
  • Math errors in your return or other adjustments.
  • You used more than one form type to complete your return.
  • Your return was missing information or incomplete.
