If I check the refund status of my federal refund on the IRS website, which amount do I put as my refund amount?

Answer

Enter the refund money amount shown on your Form 1040 next to the line “Amount you want refunded to you.”

You can find the amount on:

  • Form 1040, Line 76a
  • Form 1040A, Line 48a
  • Form 1040EZ, Line 13a

You’ll also need your Social Security number (SSN) and filing status.
