Does H&R Block Software Include E-Filing?
You can e-file for free with H&R Block software by using one of your five free federal e-files. To avoid paying to e-file your federal taxes, you need to enter the Activation Code you got when you bought your program.
You’ll enter the Activation Code in the File tab when the program asks you to enter it. Your Activation Code is a unique ten-character code sent with your copy of the H&R Block Tax Software that lets you e-file for free.
If you can’t find your Activation Code, use this information to locate it based on how you bought your software:
- Downloaded from H&R Block: Check your in-box for your purchase confirmation. The Activation Code will be in the email you received when you bought your software.
- Downloaded from an online retailer (Ex: Amazon): First, check your in-box. The code should be in the purchase confirmation email. You can also check in your account on the website where you bought the software. There should be a history of your digital software purchases and the Activation Code for your H&R Block Tax Software.
More Info on Paying to E-File Taxes
Though free federal e-files are included with your software, you’ll have to pay to e-file your state taxes. They aren’t included in the cost of your federal or state programs and don’t count as one of your five free federal e-files.
Sometimes we’ll ask you to enter your payment information again if you’re refiling a rejected return. H&R Block won’t process your e-file fee until the IRS or state accepts your return.
