FAQs

You should consider a Second Look® review if you filed your taxes in the past three years and want to make sure everything was done right. It’s especially helpful if you think you might have missed credits or deductions, filed with someone else, or prepared your own return. The review checks for errors, missed tax breaks, and even issues that could lead to IRS notices.

There’s no paperwork needed. Once you provide consent, your tax pro will handle the rest.

The review itself is free, and there’s no cost to complete the review or receive your results. You’ll just need an H&R Block MyBlock account to view your results and chat with a tax pro.

If you decide to amend your return, there’s a fee based on the complexity of the changes and the level of service you choose. Most amended returns usually start around $99.

Timing can vary and depends on how long it takes the IRS to deliver your tax transcript. We work through Second Look® reviews as quickly as possible while still ensuring accurate results.

No. Pulling your IRS transcript is done for many reasons and has not been shown to increase audits. The information in your Second Look® review stays between you and H&R Block, and we do not notify the IRS if a mistake is found.

That letter is for information purposes only. If anything was missing, we also received the notification and are already working to fix it so we can complete your Second Look® review.

Your review will be handled by a dedicated team of Second Look® tax experts who will take care of any questions or concerns you might have and reach out if needed. You’ll still return to your regular tax pro next year for tax prep.

Second Look® isn’t just for people who’ve filed before. It can also help identify potential fraudulent activity on your account and give you added confidence that your tax situation is in good shape.

Yes! You can still sign up for a Second Look® review at no charge, even if you filed your return somewhere else. Schedule an appointment or visit an H&R Block office, and a tax pro can help you get started.
