Question
I filed taxes wrong and realize I made a mistake by filing as head of household. The filing status doesn’t affect my refund amount so do I still need to amend return in order to change status?
Answer
Yes. It is important to file an amended return. You should wait until the IRS has processed your prior return and file Form 1040X with the correct status.
