Why you received IRS Letter 2050

  1. You did not file a tax return or pay a balance due by the due date.
  2. The IRS sent multiple notices requesting that you file a return or make a payment, but never received a response.
  3. The IRS sends Letter 2050 to notify you that your account has been assigned to the office listed on the notice for enforcement action such as seizing part of your wages, bank accounts, state income tax refunds or more.

Your options to address IRS Letter 2050

  1. Make arrangements to pay
  2. Dispute the taxes you owe
  3. Dispute the penalties

Notice deadline: 10 days

If you miss the deadline: The IRS will issue a levy against wages, bank accounts or other assets if you don’t pay the balance in full or contact the IRS to establish a payment agreement.
