Why you received IRS Notice CP48
- You or someone you list on your tax return has an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
- Your ITIN or the ITIN of someone listed on your tax return is set to expire on January 1st.
- The IRS sent CP48 to notify you that you need to renew the ITIN before the end of the year. The notice explains how to determine which ITINs are expiring this year.
Notice deadline: December 31st
If you miss the deadline: Processing of your tax return and any refunds due to you will be delayed.
