Question

What is the W-2 Form deadline — When do employers have to issue W-2 to employees?

Answer

Regarding the W-2 Form Deadline, your employer should issue W-2 Forms to you no later than Jan. 31, 2019. If you don’t receive your W-2 by the W-2 Form Deadline, ask your employer for it.

You can also check our database to find your W-2 online and have it available at any H&R Block tax office.

If you don’t receive your W-2 by Feb. 15, 2019, contact the IRS at 800-829-1040. The IRS will contact your employer to issue W-2 Form that is missing. The IRS will also send you a Form 4852: Substitute for Form W-2 or a Form 1099-R.
