H&R Block Awards $100,000 in Scholarships to Students Making Every Block Better Across the United States

Twenty high school and college students granted $5,000 each for continuing education. 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 14, 2024) – Since 2012, H&R Block (NYSE: HRB) has awarded more than $1.3 million in scholarships to relatives of H&R Block associates, franchisees, and franchise employees through the Children of Associates Premier Scholarship (CAPS) Program. This year’s cohort of twenty students is each receiving $5,000, totaling $100,000, to be used toward their continued education. These students support their communities, demonstrate a deep commitment to their academics, and display leadership throughout their extracurricular activities.

The CAPS program reflects H&R Block’s purpose to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere.  

The 2024 CAPS winners include: 

  • Jenna Alessandrini of Flanders, N.J., first-year student at North Carolina State University, majoring in political science.  
  • Giovanni Carlo of Sylvania, Ohio, second-year student at Bowling Green State University, majoring in construction management.  
  • Kayla Craven of Georgetown, Texas, third-year student at San Diego State University, majoring in kinesiology (pre-physical therapy).  
  • Kelsey Crews of Wichita, Kan., first-year student at Wichita State University, majoring in aerospace engineering.  
  • Serena Daley of Redondo Beach, Calif., first-year student at University of California, Los Angeles, majoring in biochemistry.  
  • Preston Davis of North Richland Hills, Texas, fourth-year student at University of Texas at Austin, majoring in mechanical engineering.  
  • Alana Field of St. George, Utah, second-year student at University of Utah, majoring in biochemistry and physics.  
  • Sydney Gardner of Savoy, Ill., third-year student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, majoring in communications.  
  • Reid Golubski of Newton, Kan., first-year student at University of Kansas, majoring in civil engineering.  
  • Andrew Gourgues of Mandeville, La., first-year student at North Carolina State University, majoring in statistics.  
  • Hariaksha Gunda of Montgomery, Ala., third-year student at University of Alabama, majoring in computer science.  
  • Katelyn Lowden of Lake Winnebago, Mo., second-year student at University of Kansas, majoring in biology.  
  • Chloe Masser of Leck Kill, Pa., first-year student at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, majoring in health sciences.  
  • Miriya Mayenkar of Belmont, Calif., second-year student at University of California, Berkley, majoring in bioengineering and business administration.  
  • Ruben Mendes of Germantown, Wis., first-year student at University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in computer engineering.  
  • Gianna Munoz of Stansbury Park, Utah, second-year student at University of Utah, majoring in chemical engineering.  
  • Hannah Perkins of Sadieville, Ky., fourth-year student at Midway University, majoring in elementary education.  
  • Emily Pologruto of Midland City, Ala., third-year student at Auburn University, majoring in speech, language, and hearing sciences.  
  • Madeline Streicher of Edgewood, Iowa, fourth-year student at Simpson College, majoring in biochemistry.  
  • Ella Turley of Parkville, Mo., first-year student at Indiana University Bloomington, majoring in marketing.
