How Can I File Prior Year Returns Online?

If you haven’t completed last year’s taxes, you might be wondering if you can file prior-year returns online with H&R Block. Unfortunately, you can’t. While we don’t have a way for you to file prior- year returns with our online products, you do have options to file older returns.

You can:

  • Prepare it yourself with H&R Block Software Our software programs allow you a convenient do-it-yourself option that you can easily download from our website. You’ll find editions to complete your federal and state taxes for the previous year and other years’ back taxes.
  • Get a prior-year return prepared at any of our H&R Block offices. One of our knowledgeable tax professionals can help you file your prior-year federal and state taxes even if you choose to complete your current-year taxes online.

Note: We recommend that you complete and file your prior-year returns before beginning your 2018 return.
