Scott Manuel

Scott Manuel is the Chief Strategy and Operations Officer for H&R Block, responsible for driving the strategic agenda for Block and helping to build deeper capabilities in AI, productivity, client support and real estate.   

Manuel is a multi-disciplined C-suite executive with global leadership experience focused on driving business growth at the intersection of product, customer insights, and technology. With over 25 years of experience leading high-performance organizations, he has achieved exceptional results in the emerging technology, information services, financial, healthcare, energy, media, and telecom industries. 

Manuel most recently served as President of Tribute Technology, a B2B SaaS company owned by The Carlyle Group and Vista Equity Partners. Previously, he served as Chief Product Officer for the media conglomerate McClatchy, where he led business transformation, expanded digital consumer revenue, and rebuilt the product, engineering, sales, marketing, and analytics functions to maximize results. Before joining McClatchy, Manuel was Vice President of Strategic Product Management at Thomson Reuters, focusing on commercial opportunities in the digital identity, blockchain, fintech, predictive analytics, cognitive computing, and mobile technology spaces. 

He serves on the board of Syrinx Labs, a decision-support company that creates a competitive advantage for clients through the application of advanced technology. 

Manuel holds a Master of Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University.  

Manuel is also an Eagle Scout and a mentor for engineering and management students. He lives in Durham, NC with his wife, two daughters and their family dog Nickerson.
